Outer Signal
Outer signal is a reception stop signal.
It is available only in class ‘B’ station with Two Aspect Signals (TAS).
It shall be the First Stop Signal (FSS) of the station.
It is located on single line at a distance on not less than 580 m from outermost points or not less than 400 m from opposing SLB/Advanced starter.
On double line shall be located at a distance of not less than 400 m from Home signal.
It is capable of showing stop and proceed aspects.
It shall show red light in ‘ON’ and a green light in ‘OFF’ position.
First Home signal shall be taken OFF then only outer is to be taken OFF.
Whether Home signal is provided, outer signal can not be taken OFF unless Home signal is taken OFF.
When Home is defective Outer signal shall be treated as defective.
Outer signal shall not be taken OFF for shunting purposes.
When signal is defective, written authority to pass at ON is T/369(3b).
