WEIGHTLIFTING
Weightlifting is a strength sport in which athletes lift a loaded barbell overhead. The sport tests an athlete's power, technique, speed, and balance.
Key Features
- Players : Individual athletes compete in different weight categories.
- Equipment : Barbell, weight plates, lifting platform, and supportive gear.
- Objective : Lift the maximum weight successfully.
Events : Two official lifts:
- Snatch
- Clean and Jerk
Basic Rules
- 1Each athlete gets three attempts in the Snatch and three attempts in the Clean and Jerk.
- 2The highest successful lift in each event is counted.
- 3The total of the best Snatch and Clean and Jerk determines the final score.
- 4The athlete with the highest total weight lifted wins.
- 5Competitions are divided into weight classes.
The Weightlifting is an athletic discipline in the modern Olympic programme in which the athlte attempts a maximum – weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates
